Mycoweg
A downloadable game
The short introduction
This is a game about impossible empathy.
You play a fungus.
Your advance through space, growing yourself through the grid.
Things happen to you while expanding.
The long(er) introduction
Although many undertakings from different species might resemble one another, it is clear that there are deep differences in how we perceive and experience the world. Many scientists have pointed out, that the most possible scenario is one, in which we will never be able to think like other animals.
What about plants? Or, what about fungi?
In this game, you play a fungus that is expanding through a changing medium. You will face all types of interactions. Occasionally, you will shrink because of forces you might not really understand. Other times, you will advance without opposition.
The game has three dimensions:
One in which only the most basic facts about your expansion decision are presented.
Another in which the game mechanics of that decision are explained.
A last one focused on journaling, in which questions are made to try to reach an empathic connection with the fungus you are playing as.
Spoiler alert: It is impossible to think like a fungus. But trying is worth it.
